Renewable energy: MPs seek more focus

During a discussion on the Indian Institute of Petroleum and Energy Bill, 2017 in Lok Sabha, lawmakers from the Opposition asked the government to put adequate focus on renewable energy and reduce dependence on fossil fuels. Opposition said that most major economies, globally, were moving towards renewable sources of energy, a path India must also take.

Trinamool Congress member Saugata Roy said that the time had arrived to seriously deliberate on renewable energy sources. Biju Janata Dal’s Tathagata Satpathy said that there was a serious need on ‘energy synergy’ in India for steady growth of the country’s economy.
