FINER, North East MP Forum ask for new industrial policy, additional incentives for MSMEs

Local industry body Federation of Industry and Commerce of North East Region (FINER) and forum of Northeastern parliamentarian discussed on creating a consensus to urge for new industrial policy with enhanced incentives for minimum 10 years, additional incentives for MSME sector and ease out transportation bottlenecks increasing and development of waterways to spur trade with South Asia and South East Asia.

FINER in association with North East MP Forum organized an interactive session with the MP’s and ministers from region to discuss the policy dispensation and development imperatives required for the region to catapult the region to a higher growth trajectory.

Kiren Rijiju, Minister for Law and Justice & Chairman North East MP Forum said he understands the growing need for new and better policy and how it can impact the growth and development of North East Region . He further assured full commitment and support of the MP Forum to push for a better policy which is on anvil 26 MPs of North East cutting across party lines were present including Kiren Rijiju, Sarbananda Sonowal minister for port, shipping & waterways and Ayush, Rameshwar Teli minister of state for petroleum and natural gas & labour and employment, Raj Kumar Ranjan Singh minister of state for education and external affairs.

Pabitra Buragohain, President FINER said it is important to revisit the challenges and opportunities of the region and through a common platform of NE MP Forum, Ministry for the Development of North East and FINER take up issues, which are significant and relevant to growth and development of the Region. He also said it is vital of importance of expediting infrastructure and connectivity work and address issues of Border Points to make Act East Policy a reality.

Dr KK Dwivedi Principal Secretary Industry and Commerce Government of Assam made a presentation on industrial and economic scenario. He said for the region to get back the earlier glory of pre independence it is imperative to have level link field with special economic package and special policy which can generate more employment and rise in the per capita income.

Sandeep Khaitan Director FINER presented the views of the industry capturing the enablers to build a robust ecosystem to spur industrial growth and highlighted the sectors with competitive advantage.

Bajrang Lohia Vice President while delivering the concluding remarks thanked the ministers and MPs for joining this session. He said for the industry to achieve a higher growth trajectory and be sustainable it is important to have a favourable environment and efficient enablers in terms of policy, infrastructure, and access to finance.
