Are your MPs worth your vote?

Hindustan Times, March 28, 2014

Many members of the outgoing 15th Lok Sabha are returning to voters in the coming weeks, hoping they have done enough in Parliament and in their constituencies to win another term.
MPs are expected to raise public issues through questions in the House and by participating in debates. And they are expected to spend the`19 crore they got between 2009 and 2014 for carrying out development in their constituencies.

Delhi-based non-governmental organisation Satark Nagrik Sangathan (SNS), which works to promote transparency and accountability in government functioning, has come out with a MP’s report card.

The performance of the members has been assessed on the basis of attendance in the House, the number of questions they raised between 2009 and the end of December 2013 and the expenditure of their local area development fund, also called MPLAD.

Here is the report card of some MPs including a young brigade and celebrity MPs, some of whom will be returning to contest seats this time around. Were they worth your vote or is it time for change.
